Would like to agree, but...

A popular tech review site; cnet, has recently done a comparison of how far(or how distant) portable computer devices (such as pda's and handhelds) have evolved over legacy models. Specifically taking a Samsung Q1 and an Apple Newton Messagepad 2100 into the ring. Needless to say, most of us don't really need to repeat the virtues of the fantastic Messagepad. But the deciding factor came down to the amazing battery life of the Messagpad over the Q1. Duh... this seemed like a classic case of apples and oranges (sorry for the pun).
As much as I do admire the Newton and have been trying to get a 2100 off of eBay forever. This test was flawed from the start, i.e. comparing apples and oranges. Feature for feature, cpu, architecture, external interfaces, the Newton is way way behind the times. But for what the Newton does, it was the best and still is the best, based on design.
Here is the link to their "findings".

Btw, I'm sure a lot of us are still hoping or praying Apple releases something in this area :o)
